Flexible Blended Learning Course 1, 2022

SLANSW is offering a new format of Professional Learning for our members, based on the ‘Open Learning’ model. The term ‘Open Learning’ is used to describe learning situations in which learners have the flexibility to choose from a variety of options in relation to time, place and modes of access, as well as other factors related to their learning. The term open learning is used interchangeably to refer to e-learning, flexible learning and distance. (Caliskan, 2012). While ‘open learning’ has progressed with the implementation of many new technological platforms, the premise of the definition is still relevant.

Based on the feedback of members, who expressed difficulty in attending evening or weekend professional learning events, SLANSW has responded with a flexible blended learning format which allows you to participate in the professional learning offered by SLANSW at a time that works for you. In Term 2, the first of the flexible blended learning courses will be offered.

Course structure

Commencing on May 9 and concluding on 24 June, this course focuses on Introducing Micro-Credentialling in Your School Library. Over the seven week course, participants will be provided with access to SLANSW restricted and member only videos and professional readings to support you through the process of introducing a micro-credential activity in your school library. Participants will work at their own pace to complete the viewing and reading of resources. An optional online meetup will be offered for participants, however attendance at this meetup is not compulsory to meet the course requirements. Participants will be asked to post a reflection on their learning at the end of the flexible blended learning course.
